CrossFit is just hard...

As coaches, we hear a lot of negative self talk on a daily basis; usually athletes dissappinted with their times, scores or loads. "What am I doing wrong coach? I must've been doing it wrong because my back is sore." "If my knee didn't hurt, I could have beat her." "My life is really hectic, so I can't make it to the gym as much as I like. I would be better."

Each of these statements are all rooted in some false reasoning. And that is the idea that somehow if your life circumstances were different, CrossFit would be easier. No one says this outright in their statements, but what they're really hoping is, "If I didn't have sore X, if my schedule were more open, if I didn't have kids, if I didn't have relationship problems, if I didn't have a crazy job, if I weren't overweight, CrossFit would be easy."

Truth bomb: CrossFit is just as hard for the no-life, no-job, great marriage, already-fit-never-sore people as it is for you.

CrossFit is hard for everyone and there's freedom in that! You didn't do as well as you had liked, because CrossFit is just hard and that's ok. It's more than ok, it's the point of CrossFit. It is hard, but it's not impossible and you're awesome for just showing up. So the next time you think of getting down on yourself for whatever reason. Remind yourself that CrossFit is just hard.
